Dynamic Pricing on Labor or Custom Items

Dynamic Pricing on Proposals
With Portal, you can create a line item that Automatically adjust labor and material pricing based on your proposal’s size.
Let’s say you’re quoting a rack room. You’ve got a handful of extra items like wiring, connectors, maybe some miscellaneous materials. Instead of ballparking those numbers or pulling out your calculator, you can set up a custom item in Portal and enable Dynamic Pricing.
Now, rather than entering a flat number, you can set that item to calculate automatically as a percentage of the area total. Maybe it's 5% of the rack room subtotal. If the gear list grows, that number grows too. No extra work required.
You can use this same approach for labor. In the video above, we add a “Project Management” line item and set it to automatically calculate at 10% of the proposal total. So whether you’re quoting $10K or $100K, your Project Management labor cost scales automatically with the proposal.
Dynamic Pricing makes your life easier by letting you:
- Set custom items to scale based on proposal or area totals
- Apply percentages to line items so they update automatically as the scope changes
- Keep material and labor pricing proportional to the proposal or area pricing
The best part? It works live. You can adjust your proposal in real time, adding products or swapping options, and those dynamic items will keep updating behind the scenes.
